In restaurant business Food Handlers Certificate determines or proves that a worker has a considerable amount of knowledge to prepare ,cook and serve food for customers.
Their carelessness can cost not only to the business they are employed by but also health of customers dining there.
I have seen some restaurants where workers who handle food speak little to no English.This is not to say that their lack of understanding with and speaking ability with English should bar them from working in that industry but it’s critical to learn and understand what different terms mean when it comes to food and health.
I remember when I used to work in a food industry as a manager , one of the workers shocked me to death with this question
“Can you please take the online test for me for Food Handler’s Certificate as I don’t have enough time to learn all that to be able to pass the test?”
I was in complete distress.I answered with “NO,you have to learn if you want to serve food.”
I have seen another lady in the kitchen area where she was mixing the spices with chicken pieces in the sink compartment.The compartment wasn’t even cleaned properly by her,I saw soap foams and a piece of hair in the compartment with chickens in them.
